| Producing the right visual for each screen of a training is a critical task – one that is sometimes overlooked or deemphasized. Just as textual content provides information to the learner, a photograph, illustration or animation is “visual content” that can enhance the learner’s understanding of the concepts being presented if chosen well – and keep the learner engaged. A balance between textual and graphical information is proven to enhance knowledge acquisition and retention. A poorly chosen image can distract and inhibit the learner’s understanding. Our clients value our ability to connect relevant visuals to their content, along with our ability to produce original, high-quality graphics and animations for their projects.
For this project, our client had contracted an offshore vendor to develop a series of WBTs to help associates learn how to use a new enterprise application. The project was in a little trouble – while the offshore vendor was technically capable, they were not able to handle the graphics. Our client needed SweetRush to step in quickly to provide appropriate graphics and a new user interface in order to meet the accelerated timeline.
As a first step, SweetRush and the original instructional design team assessed the design and user interface requirements. We found the visual content needed to be more relevant and have more impact, which included concepts of credit, credit risk and home loans. By developing a fast-track photography, screenshot and graphics optimization workflow, we produced over 400 images for the project in just a few weeks. Each one was chosen meticulously and reviewed to ensure that the right graphic was in place to reinforce the message on the screen. (You can learn more about how we managed the assets and workflow in our Project Management Focus section.)
The user interface we developed was one of the first web-based training templates that adhered to our client’s brand standards and graphics guidelines. A clean simple interface, with eye-pleasing white space, served as an appropriate stage for the text and visual content.
The project was completed on time and successfully, and led to future collaborations with this client.
